Veterinary Technician Supervisor

Phoenix Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor to join their team!

Position Summary

The Veterinary Technician Supervisor will play a critical leadership role in our emergency department, working closely with hospital leadership and the medical team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys developing others, and is passionate about emergency veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Serve as a role model and lead by example on the clinic floor.
  • Provide direct oversight, coaching, and mentorship to the ER technical team.
  • Ensure protocols, policies, and procedures are followed consistently across shifts.
  • Follow up on coaching conversations to ensure implementation and growth.
  • Conduct and document one-on-one meetings, training, and coaching sessions.

Training & Development

  • Develop and implement onboarding and training protocols for new technicians.
  • Oversee and participate in the leveling process for technical staff.
  • Identify and support employee advancement opportunities.
  • Lead or coordinate continuing education and skill development efforts.

Administrative Duties

  • Conduct interviews and assist in the hiring process for technical positions.
  • Manage and coordinate the technician schedule across all shifts.
  • Track and manage Paid Time Off (PTO) in collaboration with the hospital manager.
  • Collaborate with leadership on performance reviews and disciplinary actions.

Communication & Coordination

  • Be available to meet with all shifts on a weekly basis to ensure alignment.
  • Foster clear, respectful, and timely communication between teams.
  • Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.

Schedule Requirements

  • Minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Availability to meet with all shifts on a weekly basis.
  • Must be able to work at least 2 weekend shifts per month.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred, or equivalent experience in emergency veterinary medicine.
  • 3+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with 1+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a high-pressure environment.
  • Passion for mentorship, education, and career development.
