What We're Looking For:
- Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university
- Current State Veterinary License
- DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
- Five plus years of experience in a veterinary practice
- Experience overseeing Veterinary Technicians and Assistants as well as other hospital or practice staff
- Must demonstrate a desire to continue learning in veterinary care and participate in leading staff training

Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Board Certified or Residency Trained Internist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. You will work alongside a team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff and will work closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups
- Client communication and education
- Maintaining accurate medical records
- Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications to patients and following controlled substance protocols
- Promote teamwork and staff efficiency
- Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
- Evaluate and monitor protocols for the daily running of the hospital from intake to discharge
- Monitor cases in the hospital and attend daily rounds when possible to be sure the highest standards are being upheld
- Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications (Required)
- Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
- 1-year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, ER (university or large referral practice).
- Completed a 3-year, AVMA approved residency program
- Current State Veterinary License
- DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
- Excellent Communication Skills and the ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner with all members of the Medical and Hospital staff.
- Client communication skills, must be able to elicit information, establish rapport, offer explanations with pet owners.
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work.
- Position does require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Board Certification
- 2-5 years of experience post-residency
- Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in examining and assessing animals. Perform cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and other necessary examinations. Diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop solutions to challenges relating to the management of a high-quality veterinary hospital.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients. Display effective communication with internal medical and hospital staff.
- Professionalism: Work as part of a high-quality, professional veterinary team with the ability to provide and receive appropriate constructive criticism, suggestions, and feedback.
- Business Acumen: Ability to understand the management and finances of the veterinary hospital practice.
- Ethics: Knowledge and understanding of ethical principles that guide decisions affecting patients.

Position Overview
- The Veterinary Technician supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Responsibilities include providing patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, assisting with feeding and caring for patients, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging.
- Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, and vaccines, and bandaging and wrapping wounds.
- Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; aids as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide excellent pet care by applying full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration.
- Obtain and verify medications.
- Ensure that patients have food and water, clean patients' rooms, cages, and equipment; observe patients for clinical signs of disease.
- As directed, fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
- Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas, storing sterile supplies, verifying shelf life, following standards and procedures, and in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
- Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicate with the pet owner about the status of the patient, as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Maintain inventory, place orders for needed supplies, verify, and maintain receipts.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals.
- Release pets to their owners as directed; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed before their release.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must have surgery experience.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Relevant experience in ER setting.
Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm.
- May need to be on call for after-hours surgeries.

Job description
Phoenix Veterinary Referral and Emergency (PVRE) is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to work in our ICU department. Our team is committed to delivering the highest quality medicine and patient care while providing exceptional client service. We highly value our employees and are committed to providing a positive work atmosphere. PVRE offers a positive and professional environment where our staff are utilized to their fullest capabilities. We value our Veterinary Technicians/Assistants and the essential role they play on the clinical team. Our Veterinary Technicians/Assistants gain exceptional hands-on experience and knowledge through the diverse and often complex cases that we see.
PVRE is home to experienced emergency clinicians, a board certified surgeon and internist. Additionally, we have a radiologist and cardiologist who provide services for our patients at our location. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, CT, complete in-house laboratory, scanning ultrasound, and digital radiography.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have 2 years of ER experience
- Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays

- Basic knowledge of computers

Your technician role will consist of:
- Triaging emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital.
- Perform radiographs using proper positioning of patients.
- Have an understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs.
- Obtain blood pressure and vital signs.
- Be able to initiate CPR
- Properly calculate medical math
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Job Type: Part-time
Schedule:
- 12-hour shift
- Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm
- Must be able to work holidays
Experience:
- Veterinary experience: Must have 2 years of ER experience
- Preferably with ICU experience

Position Summary
The Veterinary Technician Supervisor will play a critical leadership role in our emergency department, working closely with hospital leadership and the medical team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys developing others, and is passionate about emergency veterinary medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Serve as a role model and lead by example on the clinic floor.
- Provide direct oversight, coaching, and mentorship to the ER technical team.
- Ensure protocols, policies, and procedures are followed consistently across shifts.
- Follow up on coaching conversations to ensure implementation and growth.
- Conduct and document one-on-one meetings, training, and coaching sessions.
Training & Development
- Develop and implement onboarding and training protocols for new technicians.
- Oversee and participate in the leveling process for technical staff.
- Identify and support employee advancement opportunities.
- Lead or coordinate continuing education and skill development efforts.
Administrative Duties
- Conduct interviews and assist in the hiring process for technical positions.
- Manage and coordinate the technician schedule across all shifts.
- Track and manage Paid Time Off (PTO) in collaboration with the hospital manager.
- Collaborate with leadership on performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
Communication & Coordination
- Be available to meet with all shifts on a weekly basis to ensure alignment.
- Foster clear, respectful, and timely communication between teams.
- Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
Schedule Requirements
- Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Availability to meet with all shifts on a weekly basis.
- Must be able to work at least 2 weekend shifts per month.
Qualifications
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred, or equivalent experience in emergency veterinary medicine.
- 3+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with 1+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Passion for mentorship, education, and career development.
